Review: What I’d Be by Tanieth Kerr, at the Jack Studio Theatre 17 - 21 February 2026

“Nothing comes close to the feeling of just us” ★★★★
What I’d Betells the story of two sisters that have lost touch over the years, and begin to rekindle their relationship on a park bench. Confronting the truth and wanting to be seen we watch their conversation unfold. A bittersweet journey of childhood nostalgia, regret and joy. This production that delves into family, sisterhood and complex grief is performed by a pair of talented, stand-out actresses.
These two deliver a raw, honest performance that feels both powerful and delicate. Of all the great aspects in this two-hander, the emotional agility throughout is undeniably impressive. Together, they ignite a chemistry that highlights not only their differences but their bond and shared history. The entire setting of this new work revels in its stillness and stoicism making moments of intensity all the more climactic. Writer, Tanieth Kerr, approaches difficult, often unspoken topics with a softness, but doesn’t sugar coat. Kerr seems to conduct a unique rhythm that feels natural, relatable and compelling.
This hour long show flies by. It leaves us with the message that self discovery happens at any age and that it is never too late to turn things around. What I’d Be gifts is a sisterly story filled with humour, heartfelt connection and sentiment. This is the first show I’ve seen of Headache Creative Productions and I will most definitely be sure to look out for the future work of this company. This creative
