Shotgunned tells the story of Dylan and Roz, a couple who unexpectedly fall out of love.
It is a poignant and humorous reflection on the messy and the beautiful in relationships and how we can come up against a dead end, no matter how much we care for each other. It also speaks about our dreams and the courage and resilience it takes to follow them. In equal parts hilarious and heart-breaking, Shotgunned is a relatable and intimate piece of theatre about the people we lose that shape who we become.
Written and directed by Matt Anderson, Shotgunned is Kangaroo Court’s debut theatrical production. It comes to The Etcetera as part of a UK-wide tour, performing at theatres in Cornwall, Exeter, Bath, London, Brighton, and Edinburgh.
'You find yourself laughing out loud one moment and gripping for tissues the next… Shotgunned breaks your heart, patches it together and then breaks it again.’ - FalWriting
‘Despite focussing on a break up, Shotgunned is very funny throughout.’ - ★★★★★ The Packet

'TRAUMA' BY MEHRNOOSH KHORSAND
'After the fall of the Pahlavi dynasty in Iran in 1979 a new age of totalitarianism and religious authoritarianism gripped that ancient land. On 13th Sept 2022 Mahsa Amini was arrested in Tehran by Iran's so-called Morality Police - who routinely subject women and girls to arbitrary arrest, detention, torture and other ill-treatment for not complying with the regime's discriminatory veiling laws. Mahsa was violently beaten while being forcibly transferred to Vozara detention centre. Within hours she was transferred to Kasra Hospital having fallen into a coma. She died three days later. In the ensuing protests over 500 people were killed by police, including women and at least 68 children. 'Trauma' by Mehrnoosh Khorsand is set against this backdrop of gross human rights' abuses and extrajudicial killings by the Tehran regime. Leila, a young refugee from Iran is in a London hospital - traumatised and hallucinating. Separated from her young daughter Leila's trauma is manifested through a disconnect between her reality as a patient under observation in a mental health ward and past events in Iran. She struggles to tell the difference between her hallucinations and reality, unsure if she'll find her young daughter. She's unsure too if she can trust anyone or if she can finally break free of the bonds of a grotesque oppression.'

Steve Vertigo performs everybody in this surreal news show that looks at what the hell we've become, with characters, animations and videos. He was the only news presenter to be granted an interview with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse about their break up and Pestilence's subsequent incredible solo career. He finds the stories no-one knew they cared about, and talks to the people on the street for the real insights. With random adverts, political analysis, fascination with flags, and sharp stand-up, everything's covered.

Harry Price first heard about poltergeist activity at Borley rectory in the Summer of 1929.
If you came across a house that was supposed to be haunted wouldn't you try to capitalize on it?
Price did.
Not that his wife approved.
But then they had lived separate lives since he took up with those women.
Did he care?
Tonight we give the floor to him.

“It’s interesting. Such is the blessed quality of the human memory, that it is the happy and amusing incidents which prevail, and the worst moments become the most humorous and the most agreeable for reflection.” John Cox MC
I Am Yours Sincerely is the untold, true story about John Cox, and his times, during the Second World War, as a member of the Special Operations Executive (S.O.E.), also known as ‘Churchill’s Secret Army’ and ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’.
This secret organisation, formed in 1940, was given the remit by Winston Churchill to ‘set Europe ablaze’. They worked with the local resistance in occupied Europe and the Far East to sabotage the enemy and gather valuable intelligence.
John’s mission as part of the so-called Jedburgh teams was to parachute behind enemy lines, conduct reconnaissance and espionage; their tagline being Surprise, Kill, Vanish.
This is John’s story of friendship, bravery and love; written using many of his own words from memoirs and letters which he signed off ‘I am yours sincerely’.
His heartbreakingly unbelievable story follows him from university to decorated war hero, mission successes and failures and evading capture for which he was awarded the Military Cross and the Croix de Guerre. At the end of the hostilities, while recovering in Ceylon, he met a young F.A.N.Y. (Field Auxiliary Nursing Yeomanry), there as an S.O.E. morse code operator and his wife to be.
The actor and writer of this solo show Ed Saunders-Lee is John’s step-grandson and is a recent graduate of the Guildford School of Acting. This year marks the 80th anniversary of John’s first mission in France and future plans include taking the play to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, where it will be performed on the exact anniversary of his first, dangerous parachute jump.
